Uvongo and St Mike’s beaches were a focal point for activity, today, Saturday, 18.07.2026, with reports of sardine fever breaking out and locals and holidaymakers successfully getting their hands of these slippery, silver little fish right on the beach, as netters gave onlookers their fair share, for free!!!! 
The legendary annual Sardine Run draws massive shoals—and eager crowds—to the KwaZulu-Natal coastline, resulting in spectacular beachside netting events. When these gigantic hauls are dragged ashore, the resulting frenzy often means sharing the silver bounty with local onlookers for free.
